Cycling will be high on the programme, to celebrate 150 years since the birth of Sir Edward Elgar, being arranged by The Elgar Society Education Programme Partnership (T.E.S.E.P.P) for next year (2007). During the time that Elgar was composing music, and he will forever be remembered for his Pomp and Circumstance March No.1 which later became Land of Hope and Glory, second only to the National Anthem, he was a keen cyclist around his native Hereford & Worcester and the Malvern Hills.

T.E.S.E.P.P, mindful of the responsibilities we all have towards the younger generation, have asked Reading Velodrome Racing to introduce a Youth version of its two stage Bordeaux – Paris style special event at Palmer Park Stadium on Bank Holiday Monday, May 7th. So the 50 kilometre Senior bunched and concluding Derny motor paced event which this year was dedicated to the memory of Bill Bannister a well respected time keeper, will be duplicated for Youths and made up of a Stage one 10 kms. scratch race followed by a second stage Derny motor paced event over 15 kms.

T.E.S.E.P.P. will support both the Senior and Youth events which head up the supporting programme of League events. Guest riders may enrol for the day's racing on payment of a temporary membership fee.
