Reading Track Cycling League has joined with other Track Leagues in nominating boys and girls aged 12 to 15 to take part in the DHL Sprint Schools, which was launched at Manchester Velodrome on 20th January by Guy Elliott, CEO DHL Excel Supply Chain, and Fran Millar of Face Partnership. Reading Track Cycling League has asked Shane Benson and Andrew Pitt to manage the selection of riders and they both attended the launch. The sprint Schools will take place six times throughout 2007 either at Newport Velodrome or Manchester Velodrome culminating in a 'Baby Revolution' at Newport Velodrome in October.
The aim of the schools is to provide coaching and competitive opportunities for young riders who are not already on the British Cycling talent Team.
Every Track League will nominate 4 riders per school (2 boys and 2 girls) plus 2 reserve who they feel would benefit from the sprint schools. The schools will have on track training as well as off the bike workshops which will include subjects such as nutrition, bike maintenance and racing etiquette.
Shane Benson and Andrew Pitt will be nominating the riders for each school from the boys and girls aged 12 to 15 registered to Reading Track Cycling League.
The first school is at Newport Velodrome on Friday 23rd February.
