Published: 28 July 2004

Prime Coaching, the organisation which inspired British cycling, the governing body for cycle racing in this country into establishing a modern nation wide coaching movement takes another step forward when it stages a ?Track training and racing day exclusively for Ladies at Palmer Park Velodrome in Reading on Saturday, August 14th.

Starting with registration at 12.30 p.m. the whole afternoon will be dedicated to the development of novice female track riders, with instruction sessions sandwiched between races of differing disciplines, in the hands of fully qualified Prime Coaches. Jayne Toyne, the organiser, in conjunction with John Percy a committee member of British Cycling Central Division sums up the operation and addresses potential participants like this - ?the day is for you, if you are new to the track, if you are a born again cyclist, if you want to boost your confidence, if you want to race against others of similar ability, or you want to develop the skills that you have already - this is the day for you?.

The programme is open to all ages and the contact for entries (closing date August 6th) and full details from Jayne Toyne, 39 Bishops Court, Radcliffe Road, Croydon, Surrey CRO 5QH, Tel: 0208 774 0438 (evening) or 07770 437267 (day) or by email.

Track racing bicycles will be available if participants don?t have a racing bike, but bring your own pedals and a crash helmet. Experienced riders up to 2nd category will be welcome for their own interest and training and to act as mentors for the less experienced.
