Reading Velodrome is situated on the eastern side of Reading within easy access from the M4 motorway at junction 10 and is the only Velodrome within British Cycling Central Division.
Our meetings for 2009 are Mondays from April 20th until Monday 27th July. The velodrome is then closed for six weeks for the Athletic track refurbishment. The Track League will then restart from Monday 14th September until Monday 5th October, provided work is completed on time.
Track Racing commences with Youths at 7pm and others at 7.20pm. There will be no meeting on Bank Holiday Monday May 4th or May 25th.
There was a Special League meeting on Sunday May 24th featuring a 2-stage Bordeaux-Paris style 25kms event for Ladies/U16 in addition to the 2-Stage Bordeaux-Paris style 50kms event for Juniors/Seniors for the Bill Bannister Memorial Trophy. Prize money for this event kindly donated by Sean Bannister and his sister Jane.
The Velodrome measures 459 meters with an asphalt surface and is one of the best outdoor Velodromes in the UK. Reading Velodrome Racing puts on a programme of track Racing for member cyclists and is managed by the Reading track Cycling League.
A grand day welcomed our regular track goers and with a night was filled with the dulcet puttering low pitched tones of Derny's as they hammered round the Park at 30 plus miles an hour.
A top night of racing at Palmer Park saw high speed thrills, with no spills action on a warm and clear evening
All around the country there were sporadic thunder storms but the rain never came down as Palmer Park held a full nights racing
Under threat of rain and darkening skies another good turnout on Monday night saw a long night of action , mainly behind the red Palmer Park Derny's, with everyone sharing the spoils.
