Reading Velodrome is situated on the eastern side of Reading within easy access
from the M4 motorway at junction 10 and is the only Velodrome within British
Cycling Central Region.
Reading Velodrome Racing hire the cycle track from Reading Council, Palmer Park Sports Stadium for the Monday evening Track League which will start in 2012 on Monday 16th April until Monday 24th September.
There will be no meetings on Bank Holiday Monday 7th May, 4th June and 27th August. Track Racing commences with Youths at 7pm and Seniors at 7.10pm.
The Track League will put on two Open Meetings in 2012. They will be the
Bordeaux-Paris style event on Sunday 6th May from 1pm to 5pm. The 30k derny event is a round of the BC National Track Endurance League.
The other Open Meeting will be the Reading Dernyfest incorporating a round the
BC National Women's Omnium on Saturday 11th August starting at 1pm.
Another Open Meeting being held in 2012 is the Reading Grand Prix on Saturday 21st July starting at 1pm. This is being organised by Paul Gittings of Tri Cycle Sports. This will include a round of the BC National Sprinters League.
The Velodrome measures 459 meters with an asphalt surface and is one of the best
outdoor Velodromes in the
UK. Reading Velodrome Racing puts on a
programme of track Racing for member cyclists and is managed by the Reading
Track Cycling League.
Race Entry Fees
2012 Reading Track Cycling League race entry fees per night will be:-
- 'A', 'B' and Women riders: £10
- Youth League riders: £3
These fees include the British Cycling Levy.
