Fears of showers, the clash with the national Junior/Juvenile championships at Newport, summer holidays and the World Master championships in Austria were all factors that led to a reduced entry on Monday night, and a condensed programme was substituted.

One enthusiastic girl, Georgie Hardy from Watford, a member of the Palmer Park Velo, refused to be denied her Monday nights racing and travelled to and fro to Newport on a daily basis to compete in her age category championships.

The Derny motor paced events were well supported with David Sinclair adding a win to his third place in the 10 lap scratch. He refused to be fazed when Michael Wilmot took off like a rocket from the start in this 20 lap race but retired after 5 laps after almost lapping the field. Sinclair crossed the line half a wheel in front of Sam Sturgeon, one of the track leagues most consistent riders.

In the ladies event Rosie Serruya just pipped Georgie Hardy. The ladies benefited from the absence of Janet Birkmyre who is competing in the Worlds Masters championships in Austria.

16 riders started in the 20K endurance event, and the A riders set a blistering pace from the start, and at half distance only 6 riders remained. At the finish with only 4 riders remaining, Dave Sinclair just crossed the line ahead of Sam Sturgeon, a repeat of the Derny result. Gavin Spears of the Reading CC, the only B rider to survive the distance took the honours as the winner of the B riders event.
