Report of last meeting of 2009 on 5th October
Monday turned out a dismal day with rain most of the day but stopped in time for the track to be dry by 7pm. Despite the dark grey sky threatening more rain five women signed on for the Central Region Women's Omnium championship, seven 'A' riders signed on and ten 'B' riders for the evenings events of which the highlight was the 20k points race for the John Ralph Trophy.
Fourteen youth riders signed on for the youth events.
The first senior event the 10 lap Hare and Hounds saw quite a convincing win for the 'B' hares with first place Gavin Spiers (Reading CC) from Donal Linehan (Newbury CC) and Will Macke (PPV).
The senior Devil with seventeen riders only had one rider taken out per lap and it was the 'A' riders who triumphed with U16 Stephen Bradbury winning from junior Matt Gittings (awcycles) and super vet Ian Greenstreet (Newbury CC).
To keep the seniors warmed up between the Women's omnium events and the 20k was an unknown distance where Steve Legg (RT316) was the winner from Ian Greenstreet and Donal Linehan (both Newbury CC).
The 20k points race for the John Ralph Trophy with points every five laps saw Rob King (Reading CC) make the running at the start but it was last years winner Nick English (Reading CC) who made a break and won the next three at the whistle with Rob King picking up points to get within two points before Nick English again was getting the most points (30) to Rob Kings (24). Stephen Bradbury was the next rider picking up the points to finish with (14)
Nick English was presented with the John Ralph Trophy for the second year running.
